What is Grange SpLD Outreach Service?
Grange SpLD Outreach Service is situated in Grange Junior School in Letchworth Garden City. The Outreach Service serves local schools in Baldock, Letchworth Garden City, Royston and outlying villages.
It is one of 10 primary SpLD Outreach Services organised as part of the Children, Schools and Families outreach provision to support local schools. Advice and support from Outreach Service staff enhances the schools’ capacity to successfully meet the needs of pupils with specific learning difficulties in literacy and numeracy. This is provided through school focused consultations to discuss general concerns and pupil focused consultations to give specific advice for pupils where a Service Request has been received.
A range of SpLD training courses are planned and delivered termly. This offers CPD for Teachers, Teaching Assistants and SENCo’s. We hold termly open afternoons for displaying new materials and offering informal advice on their use. Commercial publishers often display new books and other resources at these sessions.
The SpLD Outreach Service is also a resource centre. Our resources focus on reading, spelling, handwriting, writing and numeracy and include books, games and ICT. We welcome visits from schools to view and borrow our resources. Please phone in advance to book an appointment for this service.
We also offer in-school training for groups of staff to enable them to identify and assess Literacy and Numeracy difficulties and to deliver appropriate interventions.
