  • The last day for some staff

Thu 20 Jul 2023 Amanda Hopwood

Today we not only say goodbye to year 6 but to some staff as well.  Good byes are both sad and happy.

Mrs Cheney has been with The Grange for just one year but many of you will have been helped by her in some way.  We wish her all the best in her new post at Highfield.  Those pupils who move on to Highfield will still see her.

Mrs Gatward has been with The Grange for 8 years and helped many year 6 pupils get ready for secondary school.  She is going off to do some different things with her life and we look forward to hearing about her new adventures.  On a personal level I would like to thank her for all her hard work in getting pupils the SATs result they deserve, for making science a strong curriculum subject and being on my senior leadership team and supporting me.

Mrs Murphy has been at The Grange for a decade.  In that time she too has made an enormous difference to many year 6 pupils. She has supported staff to grow and develop their skills and will be going on to be a teaching and learning advisor across the whole of Hertfordshire making a difference to even more teachers and children.  We are very proud that a Grange member of staff has secured such a vital role.  On a personal level I started working with Mrs Murphy 7 years ago as her partner teacher.  When I became the head teacher, I knew I wanted Mrs Murphy to be my deputy as we just 'work'.  She has been an enormous support to me and I am going to miss her.

A fond farewell to them all!
