Curriculum Overview

At The Grange Academy, our curriculum is carefully designed to inspire and engage our students, providing them with the necessary knowledge, skills and values to meet their potential and develop a life-long love of learning.

Underpinned by the National Curriculum, our curriculum recognises, reflects and celebrates the differences, cultural diversity and life experiences within our Grange community, as well as offering memorable and enjoyable learning experiences. Through careful consideration of prior knowledge and purposefully sequenced and progressive steps of learning, we believe our ambitious curriculum meets the diverse needs of students in our school and enables them to achieve individual goals. We enable our students to do this within a culture of resilience and developing a positive, ‘growth mindset’, where mistakes are embraced as critical steps in the learning journey.

At The Grange Academy, we believe our curriculum should be broad and balanced, whereby pupils’ creative, interpersonal and altruistic skills are nurtured and valued, and we are committed to providing our pupils with a range of enrichment opportunities to develop their curiosity and cultural capital. We are a therapeutic school, teaching positive behaviours so that our pupils can learn in environments which are respectful, safe and child-centred, and which supports their personal development and wellbeing. We believe in the importance of quality educational research in empowering teachers to deliver the curriculum, enabling our children to know more and remember more, thus achieving their full potential.

Our curriculum is designed to be fully inclusive and accessible for all pupils, and you can read more about how we meet our duties and plan for equity in learning in our Accessibility Plan 2025.

Our Remote Learning Policy outlines how we ensure continuity of high-quality learning for all pupils when education needs to take place away from school.
