Welcome from the Headteacher
I am delighted to welcome you to The Grange Academy - a warm, ambitious and inclusive school community where our vision of 'Learning for Life' comes alive.
At The Grange, Learning for Life is more than a slogan. It shapes everything we do. It means nurturing curiosity, developing critical and creative thinking, and helping children apply what they learn with confidence and purpose. It means teaching pupils to be adaptable and resilient, to act ethically, and to contribute positively to their school and wider community. We are preparing children not just for their next stage of education, but for life beyond the classroom.
We are committed to guiding your child’s growth during these important and formative Key Stage 2 years. Our role is to guide, challenge and support each child as they grow academically, socially and emotionally. We provide a nurturing, stimulating environment where children feel safe, valued and inspired to learn. We work in close partnership with parents and carers, recognising that the strongest outcomes come when school and home work together.
The Grange Academy is proud to be part of the Agora Learning Partnership. We share the values of Ambition, Generosity, Optimism, Respect, and being Adventurous and Brave. Alongside these, our school rules – to be Respectful, Responsible, Ready and Safe – underpin daily life at The Grange Academy. Together, these values shape pupils into thoughtful, confident and capable young people.
When you walk through our doors, you will notice the calm, purposeful atmosphere and the genuine warmth between pupils and staff. Relationships matter here. We hold high expectations for behaviour, learning and conduct, and we believe that every child can succeed. Our aim is for each pupil to leave us with strong academic foundations, a love of learning, and the confidence to take their next steps.
All staff are trained in TeamTeach, which ensures that behaviour is approached with care, consistency and compassion. We focus on understanding need, de-escalating challenges, and supporting pupils to reflect, repair and restore when things go wrong. This creates a culture where children feel safe to make mistakes, learn from them, and grow.
Our curriculum has been carefully refined to be ambitious, coherent and engaging. It builds progressively from Year 3 to Year 6, ensuring strong foundations in reading, writing and mathematics, alongside rich learning in science, the arts, humanities, languages and personal development. Enrichment, trips and real-life experiences are woven throughout, so learning is memorable, meaningful and connected to the wider world.
We value the role of families and the wider community in school life. Parents and carers are an integral part of The Grange, and there are many opportunities to engage with learning, celebrations and events throughout the year. Together, we create a community that children are proud to belong to. Nothing demonstrates their pride more than the children's commitment to leadership roles within the school: Anti-Bullying Ambassadors, Play Leaders, House Captains, School Council members, Library Monitors, Dining Room Helpers and more.
Thank you for visiting our website. I hope it gives you a genuine sense of who we are and what we stand for. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you would like to know more.
Kind regards,
Mr Craig Maddox
