Welcome

Welcome to The Grange Academy

I am delighted to welcome you to The Grange Academy. As the newly appointed Headteacher since January 2024, it is a privilege to join this vibrant school community that truly embodies our school vision of 'Learning for Life.'

For me, ‘Learning for Life’ is not just about fostering a love of continuing education, but the importance of teaching adaptability and resilience to overcome challenges, developing critical and creative thinking skills, supporting practical knowledge application while nurturing curiosity, emphasising ethical behaviours, and contributing positively to the school and wider community.

We are committed to guiding your child’s growth during these important and formative Key Stage 2 years. We are committed to providing a nurturing and stimulating environment that fosters a love for learning and personal development, and we work in collaboration with parents and carers to ensure that individual needs are met and pupils are supported appropriately along their learning journey.

Our school is a proud member of the Agora Learning Partnership, and we share and embrace values that shape our ethos and actions: Ambition, Generosity, Optimism, Respect, and being Adventurous and brave. These, along with our school-specific values of being Respectful, Responsible, Ready and Safe, are integral to the development of our students, not just academically but also as conscientious and capable individuals.

Upon entering The Grange, you will immediately notice the warmth, friendliness, and mutual respect that are the hallmarks of our school culture. We have high expectations of our pupils, not only in their academic pursuits but also in their relationships and personal growth. Our goal is for each child to achieve their full potential and evolve into well-rounded individuals ready for their next steps.

Significantly, all our staff are trained in Therapeutic Thinking, an approach to positive behaviour management. This commitment to de-escalation, meeting pupils’ needs, and fostering an environment of reparation, reflection, and restoration when challenges arise, ensures that we support every student compassionately and effectively.

This academic year, we are particularly excited about the enhancements to our curriculum. Our dedicated team has been working tirelessly to refine our educational offerings to ensure they build upon what students have previously learned, meet the unique needs of our pupils, and prepare them comprehensively for future learning and life challenges. This thoughtful approach is designed to encourage continuous engagement and curiosity.

Involvement from our wider community, including parents and carers like you, is invaluable to us. We believe in a collaborative approach to education, where family and community engagement enriches our students’ learning experiences and supports their achievements. You will find numerous opportunities to participate in school activities and initiatives throughout the year, and we hope you will join us in making a positive impact in the children’s educational journey.

We hope that you enjoy your visit to our website, and that you find the information you are looking for. Please feel free to contact the school directly with any queries you may have.

Kind regards,

Mr Craig Maddox
