Ten Year 6s represented the school at the North Herts School's Mixed U11 Cricket Tournament this week at Letchworth Cricket Club. It was a great day (despite the break for thunder and lightning) and the children played three matches.
It was a steep learning curve as it was a new style of cricket called Dynamo, which has replaced Kwik Cricket. All scores are recorded on an app and the batter receives a free hit off a 'tee' if there is a no ball or a wide. Each batter receives five balls and every team member bowls an over.
The team were really resilient and after losing the first match, put all their learning into the second match and won by a whopping 46 runs!
In the third and final match, the children really shone. Lucy K hit 2 sixes and 2 fours in just one over! Emily C surprised even herself with her accurate bowling. Freddie hit some boundaries as did Kyle and Ronnie.
The children were excellent team players even though they were pipped at the post in the final match by just 10 runs.
Thank you to all the parents who transported the children and supported during the day.
