Writing Project 2021
Despite being in the midst of blended learning, at The Grange Academy we were delighted to continue with our annual January writing project.
This year, we used the book Winter’s Child by Angela McAllister for our inspiration. Pupils across the school dedicated their lessons for the first three weeks of the spring term to this seasonal story about friendship and kindness.
The children, both in school and those learning remotely, considered settings, characters and relationships through their English work as well as exploring artwork, which can be seen proudly, displayed across the school.
The project culminated in our annual competition where pupils in all year groups, wrote a final piece: a letter from Tom to Winter. This was judged by the teachers and four pieces of work were shortlisted for each year group. These were then voted on by Ms Hopwood who whittled them down to a winner and runner-up for each year group.
Each class teacher also nominated an endeavour and progress award winner which were presented to pupils who showed great determination to succeed throughout the three week project.
